I think currently Miley can be considered a "Lyric Contralto" (a kind of contralto with a lighter and more feminine tone) considering that she can access the 2nd octave effortlessly and with a lot of consistency, and because her lower register has more comfort than her higher register

I think currently Miley can be considered a "Lyric Contralto" (a kind of contralto with a lighter and more feminine tone) considering that she can access the 2nd octave effortlessly and with a lot of consistency, and because her lower register has more comfort than her higher register A) Vocal fächer system does not apply to pop singers, especially those who do not utilise the voice in a way similar to that of a classical singer. B) ‘Lyric contralto’ voices have the tessitura of a higher-voiced tenor, passaggi of a higher-voiced tenor along with at very least an androgynous timbre. The voice itself is not too different from a lyric or leggiero tenor. Here is an example of a classical lyric contralto. youtu.be/--IWgWGkKBY And keep in mind this is an underdeveloped contralto with a caprino/tremolo and one that actually brightens her sound. Sorta similar to Pearl Bailey in pop, who also happens to be an underdeveloped contralto. C) Miley’s lower range is purely a result of her lifestyle and vocal health. She did not have those low second octave notes naturally or before smoking or drugs. And having ease in the second octave doesn’t make someone a contralto just saying. Vivian Reed, a classically-trained dramatic soprano has a C3 that puts many, many tenors to shame with its projection and darkness (belt-like volume). Lorraine Stancil, a gospel soprano is similar as well with her lower register. And Mary Martin, who is a classically-trained lyric soprano has a rather comfortable A2/B2, one that I daresay sounds as easy if not easier than Miley’s.

How about adding some blue color to some of those high notes ? The E6 at "vocal range" is clearly falsetto. Head voice. But yeah, I agree. I never understood why many threads put head register in the same colours as a belt or even mix. It can be quite hard to navigate as someone reading the thread. galaxyseal uses the following designation under Christina Aguilera : "Blue marks whistle (or high falsetto) notes."

And having ease in the second octave doesn’t make someone a contralto just saying. She's singing a rather easy D3 at the age of 15 here, as Hannah Montana. Especially the one at 0:33. I doubt that she would have had any problems with going down into the second octave. The C#3 and especially the B2 posted a few posts above this one sound like more of an effort. I think what Kaji said is true partially, Miley doesn't go below C3 before her 20s, also she used to dodge some low notes like 7 things C#3 and her low notes were not as projected or comfortable in the bottom range as they are nowBut she always had a good lower register and now due to her nodules, her lower register is on fire

The US national anthem is sung in all kinds of keys, so when she sang it from D it's not because she ought to, and it doesn't go any higher than A4 in that key. I seriously doubt that she was trying to impress anyone by singing it that low. It is, after all, the national anthem. So D must have been totally comfortable for her. Good projection of even lower notes may have been lacking at that time. B2 is however only 3 semitones below D3 and I don't think that the B2 you posted above was particularly good. The one at "they are now" in the post I'm replying to was in fact much better.

Not a new performance but a really impressive one! Has a really nice, raspy F5 towards the middle, and the song as a whole is a good display of her range: www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6182oN_2SY

This woman's lows continue to amaze (and terrify) me. These C♯3s should not sound so easy. Also, RANGE EXPANSION HOLY SHIT.
She sounds like a baritone on the F♯
