Yes hello, this is a thing once more!

This is the thread in which you vote for other users you deem worthy and who you wish to see climb the role ladder. If there's anyone you think has been doing particularly well and would like to see in a colour other than the default blue, you can toss them a vote and it may potentially lead to them getting promoted. While your votes along will not be the sole factor in determining who gets promoted (this is especially true for roles with more responsibilities), they will play a significant part in who staff deem to be potential promotees.

Currently, we have three roles beyond that of default user that are eligible to be voted for. These are:
Advisor: These are consistently active users who set a good standard for other users to follow and can guide newer users in the right direction. Advisors have some moderation powers on top of their responsibilities, as they are able to move threads, add claims to the Singer Index and post directly into Range Stuff.
Moderators: If an Advisor has been particularly active and has proven to be trustworthy for some time (and they don't mind the extra bit of work on the side), they may be promoted to Moderator. Moderators are pretty similar to Advisors, except that Moderators have shown that they are capable of being trusted with extra moderation work, so they are responsible for that (for example, being able to edit posts of other users if deemed necessary).
Administrators: If a Moderator has shown they are particularly responsible and capable of more than just the general thread movement kind of moderation, they may be promoted to Administrator. Administrators are Mods with a whole lot more responsibilities - they are responsible for programming how the forum runs and for essentially setting the standard. If there are any problems on the forums on a fundamental level, admins will be the ones to sort them out.

Also worth mentioning: As a result of continued activity and IRL circumstances getting in the way, Sandblasted has returned to a regular user. This is not to say he is not a respected member of the community or that we don't appreciate having him around, it's just based on his current activity, we don't want to add any more pressure to him by giving any more responsibilities. We still wish him all the best.

So yeah, go ahead and get voting good people! :P

Considering his thread output and the quality of the Advisor rank as it stands -- I'm gonna go ahead and cast my vote for 'S as an Advisor.

Keep an eye on falsetokaiba as a potential admin choice in the long-term, too.

• Platypus has been returned to the default user rank - this decision was as per his own choice.
• We have shifted IhateMana back to the Moderator role - this was a decision he was content with.
• ...however, we had a reason for doing so. Due to his continued presence, incredible work ethic (both in the Clip-Off and threads) and the fact that he's a pretty dope human being, we're happy to recruit falsetokaiba as our newest administrator! Congratulations!

You thought we forgot about this thread, but you thought wrong! For the first time in a long while there are promotions.

But before we get to those, Holsety has announced relinquishment of his staff position, and allow me to indulge a bit because I want to address this in the form of a User Appreciation™ post.

It's honestly kind of surreal to acknowledge that I have now been staff longer than twelve out of fifteen of our staff members. You were the first staff member I ever talked to; it was about the Billy Idol thread. You were the most visible staff member in the early days of TRP 3 Discord. I remember my moderator promotion wasn't fully at your behest, but I'm glad I could earn your trust eventually. As much as it's usually the want and the cliché to mention how we had disagreements but we worked through them, how we held each other accountable, or whatever, and even though we did do all of that, the thing is it was never about the disagreements. I always looked forward to a comment from you, even on the most mundane shit, because I knew it was always going to be an interesting insight. Something that made me think, even though I might not have necessarily come to the same conclusion as you; a lot of those comments and our discussions have inevitably led to me growing as a person. And I will continue to look forward to them as long as you're still around on the Discord and on the forum. I honestly can't think of a staffer that's been more influential to my views on the forum and the practicalities of running it. I certainly never imagined I would be in this position seven years ago, somehow being passed the torch and having to form a new team, new friends. But hey, nothing lasts forever, eh? :wink: New experiences are the things that matter and I'm sure I can involve you in some of mine in the future. Take care of yourself, man.

So, anyway, I want y'all to know that 'S will be filling in the vacancy as a Moderator going forward. I feel like I should add, after that whole paragraph, that he isn't trying to fill anyone's shoes here. This is a new friend that I haven't known for quite as long, but can't name one more resourceful. Even beyond the oddities I didn't even know about my own singers' threads that he tends to link me, this is a person who truly cares about the forum and the work we do.

There are also new Advisors joining the team. Well, not quite new, both of them have been staff at one point. Hennessy Macklemore III, the forum's original co-founder, has shown quite a renewed interest in the goings-on of the forum, and his enthusiasm has led us to believe that he could bring some drive and general wisdom into the group as literally the oldest member. And as suggested above, Gilad has also been promoted. Ever since the Range Rep role disintegrated, I feel like he hasn't quite had his moment to shine, and he's really as good as any of our recent Advisors -- underrated no more.

Wow what a wonderful surprise and honor! I know I'm not exactly the most outgoing of users, and most of the communication in the community happens on Discord, which I pretty much never use. However, I'm very grateful for the now 5 years I've been a part of this. It's exposed me to plenty of great music, as well as to a very welcoming community. So thanks guys :)

Ah, see I knew there were some plans in place for a staff lineup change coming, but I wasn't really sure what the wait was or when to expect it. Now it all makes sense, and I actually quite like that it was planned as a celebration of the two year anniversary of TRP4!
