Ozzy Osbourne: 1. Diary of a Madman 2. Blizzard of Ozz 3. No Rest for the Wicked 4. The Ultimate Sin 5. Ozzmosis ---- GAP ---- 6. Bark at the Moon 7. No More Tears ---- EVEN BIGGER GAP ---- 8. Ordinary Man 9. Down to Earth 10. Scream 11. Black Rain I have a hard time deciding how I'd rank Ozzy's discography because he's one of those artists that I don't think has really put out a bad album per se (unless we count Under Cover lol), just some less good ones. I'm kinda surprised to see No More Tears that far down on your list though, cause that's easily my #1 album for him. I also quite like some of the songs off Down to Earth, and kinda have a soft spot for Black Rain just because it was the most recent album that had come out when I got into him. Meanwhile I think of The Ultimate Sin as one of his albums that's...not necessarily bad, but I don't think it was one that suited him as well musically. The riffs and songwriting on there are killer for what they are, but I don't think Ozzy's voice was ever really meant to sing over glam metal like that.

I'm kinda surprised to see No More Tears that far down on your list though, cause that's easily my #1 album for him. I also quite like some of the songs off Down to Earth, and kinda have a soft spot for Black Rain just because it was the most recent album that had come out when I got into him. I mean, the ones that I put under the "even bigger gap" section have a lot of stinkers, but that's just my opinion. Honestly, any of the last four albums can flip-flop around as I put them in the same tier level anyways. I put No More Tears so low because I mostly like the first 5 songs and "Zombie Stomp" and I don't care for much else on that album ("Hellraiser" is okay; the Motorhead version is better tho). I find BATM and NMT to be overrated, so that's why I put it under "gap". Looking back on my list, I'd also put Ozzmosis under the gap too. Ozzmosis is still my #5 pick though. That album has some gems (like "Perry Mason", "I Just Want You", "Thunder Underground"), but also a lot of filler ("Ghost Behind My Eyes", "Denial", "Old L.A. Tonight"). Fair enough. I get why people criticize that record. Different strokes for different folks. That album has some of my favorite Ozzy songs ("Killer of Giants", "Secret Loser", "Shot in the Dark", etc.)

I actually didn't dislike Puzzle, and it's something that I could potentially return to and find more to enjoy. Nevertheless I'd be surprised if I ever liked it more than any of the other albums, simply due to the type of music it is. By comparison, Transcendence is an album I don't really have too much of an opinion of: there are some memorable moments, but a lot of it was forgettable to me, despite having a really cool sound and his most "proggy" arrangements and production. Infinity is the opposite: some really cool songs, and some really unusual songs, together in a quirky, interesting package but held back by some very weird production choices (listen to his podcast on this album, he sheds a lot of light on this subject). Casualties I feel like if re-listened to in the right circumstances I would be able to appreciate more. Thematically I think there's some stuff to bite into that I never gave a lot of time, but I appreciate the aesthetic values quite a bit.

Lana is one of the most consistent artists around these days. That's a brilliant list, the only major disagreement I have is that I prefer Born to Die to a lot of her catalogue. It feels fresh in a way that many of her other records don't, even though she's clearly expanded on the sound since then.
Good call on the ranking for Paradise as a stand-alone, though.

Def Leppard:
1. High 'n' Dry (All killer, no filler! Far and away, my favorite Def Leppard record. "Another Hit 'n' Run", "Mirror Mirror (Look Into my Eyes)", "Lady Strange", "Switch 625", "No No No", so many great tunes here)
2. Pyromania (Classic album. Some of my favorite songs from them are on this album: "Stagefright", "Comin' Under Fire", "Billy's Got a Gun", "Die Hard the Hunter", "Foolin'", etc.)
3. On Through the Night (Great NWOBHM debut. "Rock Brigade", "Wasted", "Rocks Off", lots of great songs and killer riffing on this album)
4. Hysteria (My introduction to this band. Hasn't aged quite as well as the three before it, but there's still lots of fun songs on this album: "Animal", "Gods of War", "Armageddon It", just to name a few..)
5. Retro Active (Yes, I'm counting it as a studio album. In my opinion, this is their last truly great album. There's lots of hidden gems on this record like "Desert Song", "Fractured Love", "Miss You in a Heartbeat", "Ride into the Sun", etc.)
6. Euphoria (A "return-to-form" of some sorts. A good effort for the most part, with occasional dull moment here and there. "Promises" and "Paper Sun" are vintage Def Leppard classics, and it has some really underrated deep cuts like "Demolition Man", "Kings of Oblivion, "Disintegrate", etc.)
7. Slang (I don't think Slang is as bad as a lot of people say it is. I give them props to trying something different here. "Work it Out", "Turn to Dust", "All I Want is Everything", and "Pearl of Euphoria" are among my highlights from this album)
8. Def Leppard (I like "Dangerous", "Sea of Love" and the last 3 songs mainly. Other than that, it's just "more of the same")
9. Adrenalize (Hysteria II, but less exciting. I like "White Lightning" and "Tear it Down" is one of my favorite songs from the band, although I like the original version more... And "Tonight" is a decent power ballad, even though it's basically a watered down "Bringin' on the Heartbreak". That's probably about it as far as this album goes...)
10. X ("Now", "Long Long Way to Go", and "Four Letter Word" are the only songs I like. Everything else is forgettable)
11. Yeah! (A few good covers, some other not so good covers. Meh, I could live without it)
12. Songs from the Sparkle Lounge (Apart from maybe "Bad Actress", I don't think there's really anything else that stands out on this record. Worst record from them by a country mile)

Anyway, cheers to ...And Justice for All stans!

Anyway, cheers to ...And Justice for All stans! My bad lol. Yeah the only thing holding back Justice is the lack of bass guitar volume. Compositionally, performance-wise, and in terms of pacing/cohesion it's the clear winner for me.

How is this ranking so fucking correct in every way? I guess I'd push ReLoad down by one more. Maybe.

ReLoad > Load all the way. All the really good songs on Load were improved on S&M, and the rest of the songs are very mid.

Honestly the best thing would've been if they had narrowed down the best tracks of both albums and released them as one without the filler. I feel the same way about Guns n' Roses' Use Your Illusion albums to a degree - which they actually did do release a single-disc trimmed down version of, but ironically I'd say that version still kept some of the worst and got rid of some of the best unfortunately. I might end up revisiting both of those album duos sometime in the Fix Your Albums thread. Anyway, as far as Load vs. ReLoad goes, I'd say both of them have their fair share of good songs and forgettable songs, but Load overall has more good songs, and some of the good songs are legit bangers. Looking back on the ReLoad track list though, there really aren't that many songs on there that I can say are truly great songs that I go out of my way to relisten to very often.
