{Detailed bio}
Though he is somewhat less talked about as a vocalist than the other two singing members of Extreme, Pat Badger is a very talented singer in addition to being a renowned bassist, whose high harmonies in Extreme give that band a big part of their signature sound. Outside of that, he also sings for his own solo band, The Nasty Ass Honey Badgers, as well as for a The Eagles tribute band called The Dark Desert Eagles, in which he also plays rhythm guitar in the caricature role of "Glenn Spry". Pat possesses a soulful, tonally pleasant voice with belty high notes for days - as evidenced by the sheer number of notes in the B♭4-D♭5 range that he frequently sings in Extreme harmonies and recreates at every concert with the band. Mid to upper fifth octave notes are somewhat less common for him, but every now and then he surprises us by wailing something super high that proves he certainly has at least some amount of controlled range in that register as well. Low notes are also fairly uncommon for him, but he has a decent amount of lower third octave singing, and very occasionally demonstrates second octave notes, though those are few and far between.
While Pat is widely recognized as the only bassist that Extreme has ever had, he was actually not a founding member of the band. There was actually a short-lived period of the band's early history in which Paul Mangone was their bassist in the first year of their existence, but Pat replaced him in 1986 and went on to become a member of the band's "classic" lineup - featuring himself on bass and backing vocals, Gary Cherone on lead vocals, Nuno Bettencourt on guitar, keyboards, and vocals, and Paul Geary on drums. This lineup lasted 1986 to 1994, and saw the release of three of the band's best-known albums - Extreme (1989), Pornograffitti (1990), and III Sides to Every Story (1992), launching them to international stardom in 1990 with the release of their best-known song "More Than Words". One of the most recognizable features about the band's sound was their use of vocal harmonies and call-and-response vocals - with many of their most famous songs being written around vocal interplay between Cherone, Nuno and Pat. Often times, Cherone would sing one line of a chorus, and Nuno and Pat would sing the next line in response, with Nuno always on the lower vocal harmonies and Pat always on the higher ones. Though Pat overall sang the least vocal parts of the three of them, he demonstrated an impressively consistent ability to sing into the upper fourth and lower fifth octave in his harmonies, sometimes singing higher than Cherone, and even singing as high as E5 in the backing vocals of "It('s a Monster)".
Extreme's fourth album, Waiting for the Punchline, was released in 1995 and featured a much more withdrawn arrangement for vocal harmonies than its predecessors. Unlike the previous three albums, this one was very much focused around Cherone's vocals, and only featured occasional backing vocal/harmony contributions from Nuno and Pat. Following the release of this album, the band broke up, and each of their members went separate ways - Cherone became the new frontman for Van Halen for three years, Nuno pursued his own solo career, and Pat took a break from music for a bit to instead turn his focus over to owning and operating an alpaca farm in Massachusetts. Ironically, he has been cited as the member of the band who had the most successful business ventures during this time, as both Cherone and Nuno's other musical pursuits ultimately flopped. Later on, however, Pat did return to the music industry and reunite with Cherone (along with Mike Mangini, who had been Extreme's drummer at the time of their breakup) in 2001, this time playing bass in the experimental industrial rock project Tribe of Judah.
