Here's a new thread to organize our notewatching efforts by - an archive of all the bands that we've notewatched members of! Since we've notewatched many vocalists who have replaced previous vocalists in certain bands, or bands that have had multiple singing members, I figured this could be a cool project to put all that together and connect the dots in one place. I've done my best to assemble as many names that I could recognize and their mutual projects, but inevitably I'm sure there are some that I've missed, so if you can think of any members of the same band that we have threads for that aren't listed on here, please let me know! Also feel free to post in here when you make a new thread for someone that's been in the same band as someone else we've notewatched. Since there are always new threads being made, this will somewhat serve as a continuously growing list that I'll do my best to stay on top of and keep updated.
This was somewhat inspired by an old TRP2 thread called "Voice types of bands/groups of people", where we would list all the members of a band and try to speculate about all of their voice types - including non-singing members, basing our assessments off interview footage of their speaking voices and such. Obviously nowadays we've realized that there's no point in trying to notewatch or analyze the voices of non-singing members of bands, but I've been noticing that there are actually quite a few bands where multiple members have done vocals at some point - whether that be bands where multiple members contribute to vocals, or bands where instrumentalist members have done solo careers/side projects that they've sung lead in. In cases like this, it actually is still relevant and (in my opinion) interesting to research and analyze the voices of those other members!
Here's how it works: pretty much any band can be listed as long as we have threads for a minimum of two of their members (so sorry, bands that have only had one member who does vocals won't get a mention here). This can include duos where those two members comprise the entire band (such as Simon & Garfunkel), and it can also include instrumentalists who did not sing in that particular band, but later went on to sing in another band (for instance, Dave Mustaine never sang in Metallica, but went on to sing in Megadeth enough to warrant a range thread, so he can still be listed alongside the other singing members of Metallica). Additionally, solo artists can be listed as their own bands if members of their backing band have also sung in other projects - for instance, Gary Moore was a solo artist, but his backing band at points included Glenn Hughes, Phil Lynott, and Eric Singer; all of whom have sung in other projects and have threads. In cases like this, the solo artist will be listed as both the band name and as a member of the band, and the instrumentalists who sang in other projects will be listed as members as well.
For the most part, I'd like to limit this to only listing official members of each band, but I realize that sometimes the line between official and touring members can get blurry in certain cases. I've also listed several rock/metal opera projects that technically only have a few official members, and otherwise feature various casts of guest vocalists on every album, such as Avantasia and Ayreon. In cases like these, I just count all the featured vocalists as members, since these are sometimes well-known projects that many people would recognize those singers for having been a part of. In addition to this, I have a section for cast members of the TV show Glee, which is not a band, but is a musical project that we happen to have threads for lots of the singers from, so I consider it worth listing for the overall purpose of this thread. Any other TV shows that also feature lots of singing and have multiple actors/singers that we've made threads for are also fair game.
So without further ado, here's the list!
